Mahonia is a branchy, not too tall, evergreen shrub. Its habit is wide, irregular and stiff. Stems are raised upwards, covered with large, leathery leaves with spiky edges. The leaves are concentrated mainly in the upper parts of the shrub. Flowering mahogany begins from April to May. The flowers are bright yellow, gathered in clusters at the tops of the shoots. When the plant fades, dark blue ornamental spherical fruit is formed.
