Heidebraut ornamental grass forms high, compact, 45 cm clumps of leaves in a dark shade of green. In August, stiff inflorescence shoots emerge from the clump. Tall, above the leaves, they grow up to 140 cm. Narrow paniculate inflorescences are light-colored at first, later turning dark red. In autumn, the whole clump turns amber and decorates the garden also in winter. These plants like moist and sunny positions. They can also grow in partial shade, where it is easier to get a moist substrate. This grass likes fertile, humus soil, acidic to neutral. These are native grasses, so in our conditions they are completely frost-resistant. The care is limited to the removal of last year’s ears in the spring.
